Hagley Cricket Club

We are a small village club in North Worcestershire three miles east of Stourbridge and 12 miles southwest of Birmingham.

We run three sides on Saturdays, playing in the Worcestershire County League. In 2011, the club's 1st XI achieved promotion from Division Two. The 2nd XI finished mid table in Division One for 2nd teams and remain in the top division. So in 2012, both 1st and 2nd teams will play in Division One in their respective leagues.

The 3rd XI were promoted from Division 9 in 2011, and will play in Division 8 in 2012. The club have recently decided to change grounds that the 3rd XI play at and they now play home games at Blakedown. The 3rds act as an introduction and learning environment for our better youngsters as they take the step up from 20 over evening cricket to Saturday afternoon league cricket.

For 2012 the club has entered a local Sunday league which we enter at Division 3 (of 3). This is mixed in with a couple of high profile friendlies which are all day fixtures against I.Zingari and London New Zealand.

Also, in 2012 the club has entered the Wilden Midweek Cricket League playing on a Wednesday night. We have entered at Division 2 (of 3) and also in a couple of cup competitions.

We are privileged to play at one of the most beautiful grounds in the country voted in 2008 as runner-up in the most picturesque ground competition featured in the Daily Telegraph.(Please see photographs in the photo gallery in 'Community' on the above menu.)

We have a thriving Junior section. Age groups start from 8 year olds, and sides run are at Under 10's,12's and 14's. The Under 10 and Under 12 age groups practice on Fridays evenings and the older juniors on Monday evenings during the summer.

Our clubhouse is a traditional wooden building within the grounds of Hagley Hall and we play here courtesy of the Hall's owner, Viscount Cobham.

Within the clubhouse, we have a bar and seating to watch games and good size home and away changing rooms with recently refurbished shower & toilet area. We also have two artificial practice nets within the grounds.

It is a very sociable club with a strong emphasis on young players with a large number of senior players having come up through our own youth set-up. However, we are always welcome to new players at all levels.

If any new members would like to join please contact Rus Andrews on 07811405891 or await details on when winter nets will be starting. Any juniors aged between 9-16 who would like to join our youth set-up, please contact Ian Watt on 07886483737. For any further details see our website.
