Guides Brownies Rainbows

We are nearing the end of the summer term and many of our units have been busy completing the Outdoor Challenge Badge, which is to help raise funds for the shower block at Blackmore. The activities included planting something edible from seeds - the rainbows planted cress and ate it on crackers with cheese spread the following week and the brownies are growing, lettuce, radish, peppers and tomatoes. We will find out how they do in September. Also a couple of the units are visiting a local allotment to see how crops are grown. Many other units are bark rubbing, having dinner and playing parachutes games in the park and creating chalk paintings around the church. Guides have spent most meetings outside either wide games over Clent, grass sledging, treasure hunts and outdoor cooking. The main event for the Outdoor Challenge Badge was Party in The Park, a big fun day held at Blackmore Campsite which included, bouncy castles, s’mores, climbing wall, crafts, dancing, drum playing and much more. Four units from our district attended and a couple of families, all had a fantastic time and the weather was fairly kind to us. Charlotte Foxall won the Worcestershire bake off for Brownies with her owl cupcakes and two other units entered the flowerpot painting and scarecrow making, but we are still waiting for the results. Several units have gone on camps indoor and outdoor which I will tell you all about next month when I know how they all went.
