HAGLEY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

‘Divine Intervention’ was the intriguing title of the talk at our January meeting.  Irene Oliver enlightened us about Dowsing and Divining, its history going back further than the Ancient Egyptians.  Several members ‘had a go’ both with divining rods and a pendulum.  We can all now try it for ourselves!

We discussed the Resolutions for the National WI meeting.  For 2018 these are - Promoting a More Positive Body Image; Stopping Female Genital Mutilation; Raising Awareness of Modern Slavery in the UK; Mental Health as important as Physical Health; Healthier Mouth, Healthier Body.  Hagley members chose the Resolutions to do with Modern Slavery and Mental Health Matters.

The Craft Group has made baby clothes for the Neo-natal Unit at Russells Hall Hospital – who are happy to have more.

Our meeting on Monday 12 March will be about Gardens – Helene Hancox talking about creating her own beautiful garden and Megan Bury about a Cornish garden.  On Monday 9 April, Dr Gillian White will give a talk: Queen Victoria – a Life in Pictures.

Also, on Monday 19 March, we plan a Fish and Chip Lunch at 1.30.  Our meetings are held in the Community Centre, usually at 2.00 pm.  We are a friendly group and are always pleased to see visitors and new members you are very welcome and we look forward to seeing you!
