Hagley Women's Institute

At the November meeting Sheila Tremellen talked to members on her work in rescuing unwanted puppies and their mothers and finding new homes for them. This particular interest caught the attention of the BBC and they asked if they could film her and the animals and this was duly done. Sheila was also on a short list of three for an award to celebrate the work of individuals in looking after animals - the final being filmed by the BBC. To her surprise she was chosen as the winner of the award.

She had also attended a Buckingham Palace Garden Party and was  awarded the MBE for her work with the puppies and bitches. It was most interesting to hear in detail her experiences on the two occasions of her visit to Buckingham Palace and of the MBE award.

With the dark winter months with us we still have much to enjoy - a Christmas Lunch and the WI Christmas Party being highlights. To start 2018 Irene Oliver will talk to us on “Divine Intervention”.

The January meeting is on the 15 January - the 3rd Monday rather than our normal second Monday.

Meetings are held at Hagley Community Centre at 2pm - should you wish to try us please contact me for further information or just turn up on the day - we would be delighted to see you!
