Royal British Legion

Thank you for your generous donations to our Poppy Appeal in November 2017.

We raised a total of £9,576 and without your help The Royal British Legion would be unable to continue with its vital welfare and benevolent work.

We were also delighted to see the increased turn out for the Remembrance Service; held this year at the Churchill Memorial and afterwards at service held in the Church of St James The Great Churchill-in-Halfshire.

In 2018, it being 100 years since The Great War ended, we are intending to raise the profile of our Legion Branch by holding monthly events shared between Blakedown, Hagley and Belbroughton.

The first of these events, being free - (apart from a raffle) – will be held at the new King Arthur Pub in Hagley on 24 January at 7 pm . There will be a guest speaker who will explain about the Legion, what it is and how it works. There will also be awards for the volunteers who have spent many years collecting for the Poppy Appeal.

The next event - Another Man’s Shoes - tells the story of the Norwegian Resistance Fighters in WW2. It is afascinating talk and well recommended. This will be on 21 February at Saint Saviours’ Church Hall Hagley.

Tickets available from committee members.

Other events will be published nearer the time, however one for your diary is Armed Forces Day on Saturday 30 June, when we will be holding a daytime event and an evening Fish and Chip supper with Blackwell Concert Band.

Hope to see you at one of our events.
