Gardeners Club

Our talk in November was by Lark Hanham, commercial manager of Hayloft Nurseries and Plants, Pershore. Lark explained the beginnings of the company and its growth to date, and her career, starting at ‘Highgrove’ for six years and then into the commercial side of horticulture with ‘Scotts’, the chemical and compost makers, before joining Hayloft Plants. She showed beautiful slides of the ranges of new and exciting plants coming to the market.

We start the year with our ANNUAL SOCIAL on 24 January. Entry is by ticket only. Apply to Judy Iliff 883568 before 8 January. Nick Channer will entertain us with an intriguing Mystery of Agatha Christie.

February 28th is our AGM, when officers will be looking to new blood to further the clubs future. Nominations should be in before 1 February to Secretary Pauline Harris, 882875. A full programme of the talks for the forthcoming year will be announced.

In January we can look forward to some of the following plants in flower. gorse, daffodils, snowdrops, aconites, dogwood, winter jasmine, heathers- Erica types, hellebores, some rhododendrons, bergenia, daphne, viburnum tinus and of course the primroses. Don’t forget to put our some food and water for the birds.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year, and hope for good gardening weather.
