Our Annual Social Evening was well attended and all enjoyed a delicious hot meal prepared by our caterers. The raffle and talk went down well. Our 2018/19 programme will be available at the March meeting. A wide variety of talks, which will hopefully please our members.
28 March: Jim Preston makes a return visit to the club with a talk on “Wildlife in a Small Urban Garden”. You probably never realized you had such visitors to your garden both day and night.
25 April: The new head gardener from Morton Hall Gardens, near Inkberrow, will give us an illustrated talk on how the gardens have been transformed and the seasonal changes incorporated within them.
March is the first month of spring, daffodils should be in full bloom and everything is showing signs of new growth. Unfortunately, so are the weeds. On a dry day weed now-saves time later when they will be much larger and probably making seed. Apply slug pellets around Hostas and other lush growth. Use organic pellets based on ferric phosphate, just as effective as ones based on methaldehyde. Happy gardening. Our meetings are at St. Saviours Hall. 7.30 for 8.00pm
