We pause our monthly talks at Blakedown Parish Hall until September, but we will be having our programmes of Summer outings and the Annual holiday which this year is to North Wales in October.
The first outing this year was a car outing to Pitchford Hall near Shrewsbury. We were bless with a beautiful afternoon to wander around the garden with our guide, hearing information about this very large Tudor country house, which is at present being restored after it was left empty for 25 years. We were able to see a selection of rooms including the one where Princess Victoria (later Queen Victoria) stayed when she was 13. One of the high spots was seeing the tree house, which is arguably the oldest treehouse in the world, it was first mentioned in 1692 and the tree is enormous. Five other outings by coach are to follow to various places of interest.
