Current news from Hagley Women's Institute
There was a HV yellow Blood Bike at our September meeting. We welcomed visitors to hear from Midland Blood Biker Tony Sanders about Blood Bikes - how and why they were formed, how they are organised and what they do – transporting not just blood but lab specimens, reports, medicines and frozen breast milk to where they are urgently needed 24/7. And - they are 100% voluntary and 100% inspirational!
This month we have the County Annual Meeting and Competition at Malvern – and then we are definitely focused on Christmas: at the meeting on Monday 11 November Philip Bowen is going to talk about the History of Christmas; on the evening of Monday 2 December at the Free Church we have the annual Carol Service together with the other local WIs in our Group; and finally on Monday 9 December we end the year with a Christmas Party.
We continue to collect toiletries and food for the local Women’s Refuge, to knit for the Premature Baby Unit at Russells Hall and to enjoy meals out together. We meet on the second Monday of the month at 2.00 pm in the Community Centre – so do come and hear interesting talks, make new friends, learn new skills or polish up ones….can’t knit, can’t cook, can’t sing – no problem - we can all learn together! We’d love to see you!
